St Andrews Community Church & Holy Trinity Combe Down Partners with Christians Against Poverty
St Andrews and Holy Trinity Combe Down have partnered with Christians Against Poverty, a national debt counselling charity to offer debt counselling in our community. CAP has a network of debt centres based in local churches, and we are delighted that the CAP Centre for Bath is based at St. Andrews Community Church. CAP offers hope and a solution to people in debt through its top-quality, in depth service which is completely free.
CAP aims to show God’s love in action by providing sustainable poverty relief through debt counselling, advice and practical help. CAP’s unique ‘hands on’ approach empowers people to help themselves out of poverty and be released from the fear, oppression and worry generated by overwhelming debts.
CAP began in 1996 when John Kirkby, armed with a £10 donation, started to help people in his local community who were trapped in debt. The charity is now a fast-paced, growing organisation whose vision is to answer the national problem of debt in the UK by having at least one CAP Debt Centre operating in every major town and city to enable anyone to access its life-changing service.
